13,000 Expected To Attend Hip-Hop Summit 2003
Russell Simmons, along with Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick; the Rev. Wendell Anthony, president of the Detroit branch of the NAACP; and Benjamin Chavis, president of the Hip-Hop Summit Action Network, was in Detroit to announce plans for Hip-Hop Summit 2003 to be held at Cobo Arena on April 26th. “Embracing young people and their struggle, and embracing those people that have been locked out and not talked about, that’s our job,” Simmons told the Detroit News.
