‘8 Mile’ Builds Around Race Mattering In Rap

James Hill of BET.com reviewed ’s new film ‘8 Mile’ giving the starring movie generally positive reviews. Hill said, “Ironically, this slowly building film is built around the fact that when it comes to rap, race matters. Rap is not simply a matter of talent. If so, Talib Kweli would be all over the radio, not Ja Rule. Image is 50% of the game. Em’s image, like Rabbit’s, is validated due to his Black posse and blue-collar beginnings. Like Arthur Ashe or Jackie Robinson, Em’s acceptance is an exception to the rule. He succeeds despite being White, not because no one notices it.”
