M.I.A. was showing her diva side with her Twitter followers moments ago after learning she’d be performing after Tenacious D due to the Beastie Boys pulling out of Outside Lands Music & Arts Festival in San Francisco on August 30th. The British alt hip hop artist writes:

p.s I originally booked on shows coz Beasties were headliners, but now they ain’t doing it and I jus wanna say, we have to go hard!!!

Adam Yauch Has Cancer
The Beastie Boys post a video on their website announcing Adam Yauch has a “very treatable” cancerous tumor in his salivary gland, forcing the band to cancel their summer tour dates. Yauch said he’s having surgery next week. “They did scans of my whole body and it’s only localized in this one area,” he explained. “It’s not in a place that affects my voice, so that’s nice. It’s convenient. So anyway, it’s a bit of a setback. It’s a pain in the ass, but it’s something that is very treatable in most cases.” Watch a report from ITN below.

Fuse TV is kicking off its Fuse Fest summer music festival programming with a front row look at the summer’s biggest music festival, Bonnaroo. On June 20th, the network will be airing a one hour concert special highlighting musical performances from Bonnaroo ‘09, entitled “Fuse Fest: Bonnaroo 2009.” Among this year’s Bonnaroo acts are Snoop Dogg and the Beastie Boys.
