Chuck D Is Thinking Beyond Country To Country

Cyclone of Australia’s Beat Magazine spoke with ’s Chuck D, who addressed why he and the group left Def Jam in 1999 to release ‘There’s A Poison Goin’ On’ independently. “I looked at the world as one piece, whereas the companies always look at the world from country to country,” he explained. “If I’m releasing a product, I know it’s gonna go all around the world, whereas if Redman released a product they’ll be worrying about getting the ‘play in New York, Philadelphia and Atlanta first and, me, I’m thinking way beyond that.”
