Common spoke with Launch.com about his collaboration with Erykah Badu which is currently at #3 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart. The rapper says it was Badu’s idea to write ‘Love Of My Life (An Ode To Hip-Hop)’, that appears on the ‘Brown Sugar’ soundtrack. “She saw a screening for the movie and decided to write something about hip-hop and love, similar to the way I did ‘I Used To Love H.E.R.,’ but from a woman’s perspective,” Common said. “She sang it, and it sounded fresh. She rocked clever terms, and then said, ‘Yo, you want to get on the song.’ And I said, ‘Definitely.’ I was honored to be on it.”
