The Hip-Hop Summit rolled into Philadelphia and Ainé Ardron-Doley of the Philadelphia City Paper was anything but impressed with what went on. “The summit boiled down to a huge self-promoting campaign for Simmons, and the day’s politics centered only on the re-election of Street,” Ardron-Doley remarked. And attendee Supreem Da Regulata’s added, “Hopefully after all the Russell Simmons products, Def Jam endorsements and self-empowerment talk, all the 10,000 people that they registered to vote don’t forget to vote.”
