The New York Daily News reports that despite Sean ‘P. Diddy’ Combs’ sometimes controversial lyrics, most notably his ‘Bad Boy for Life’ hit where he raps “half man, half drugs …my hand on my jock, holdin’ my Glock”, the rap mogul will receive Rock the Vote’s Patrick Lippert Award for public service. In addition, Democratic National Committee boss Terry McAuliffe has been courting him to help the party’s candidates. A Rock the Vote spokesman said the award recognizes Combs’ “philanthropic endeavors.” A DNC spokesman confirms that McAuliffe and Combs “are working together,” and argues Combs “raised $2 million to benefit children’s charities. …We will judge him by his accomplishments, not the lyrics.”
