Dizzee Rascal Makes His Brit Street Cred Case
Renee Graham of the Boston Globe spoke with British rapper Dizzee Rascal who says he wants America to recognize that his homeland is more than “Buckingham Palace, red telephone boxes, and cups of tea.” Dizzee explained, “Where I’m from is a different side that you don’t see in the Hugh Grant movies. I lived in government-housing council estates — what in America people call housing projects. There were no riches. There were gangs and guns and a lot of different things.
