El-P Sometimes Gets Bailed Out Missing A Rhyme

Jon Caramanica of the New York Post chatted with Definitive Jux Records label head , who released his solo debut ‘Fantastic Damage’ earlier this year. It wasn’t an easy ride for the rapper though. “I got booed off the stage a bunch of times early on in my career,” El-P remembers with a laugh. “When I’m in the studio, I think about how these songs would sound on stage. My lyrics aren’t the easiest to memorize and spit verbatim, so I’m always surprised when kids rap along. Sometimes I’ll mess up and skip a line and some kid in the front row will fill in for me.”
