Marc Matsui of The Seattle Times reviewed the Common, Gang Starr and Talib Kweli show Wednesday night at the Showbox, indicating that the legendary duo of Guru and DJ Premier upstaged headliner and birthday boy Common. Matsui writes, “Throughout the night Guru, the self-proclaimed ‘King of Monotone,’ sounded crisp, clear and commanding as ever with his lyrics. Gang Starr’s set ended with ‘Full Clip,’ a tribute to the deceased rapper Big L.”
