Ja Rules Despite His Short, Late Set

Sarah Rodman of the Boston Herald reviewed the , Eve and Charli Baltimore show at the Tsongas Arena in Lowell on Wednesday night (January 29). Rodman says, “With a no frills stage and a low-tech (read: muddy lows and piercing highs) sound mix, all the performers lost recorded production quality and were forced to rely on their own energy to create excitement. The bouncy Ja Rule clearly charmed the audience with his raw-throated exhortations about the life and smooth pop hooks. As usual the buff rapper took audience participation to a new level, dropping his vocals out so frequently that the crowd ended up performing most of his rhymes. While most music fans prefer to see the person they paid actually perform for them, Rule’s youthful suburban audience clearly relishes those moments he leaves for them to raise their voices.”
