Jay-Z’s New Sports Bar Honors The 40/40 Club

Jay-Z’s new sports bar, the 40/40 club, refers to the rare few who have hit 40 home runs and stolen 40 bases in one season – which means Jose Canseco (1988), Barry Bonds (1996) and Alex Rodriguez (1998). “When we were thinking of a name, we wanted something exclusive – the 40/40 Club in baseball is as exclusive as it gets,” Jay-Z told the New York Post. The 8,000-square-foot space at 6 W. 25th St. features big-screen TVs, video game systems and a cigar room that complies with Mayor Bloomberg’s Draconian Tali-ban. Michael Jordan and Beyonce Knowles are expected at opening night May 28th.
