Jewel Is Working With DJ Jazzy Jeff

Chaunce Hayden of Steppin’ Out magazine spoke with Jewel about reports she was getting into the rap business after hearing she’s been working with DJ Jazzy Jeff. “I have been working with Jazzy Jeff in Philadelphia,” she admits. “Maybe that’s what people are talking about. Jazzy Jeff asked if he sent me some tracks if I would write melodies and lyrics to them.” As to whether she’s a fan of rap music, Jewel said, “I like rap because it’s very similar to poetry and free verse. I understand that style very well. I still haven’t started it, though. So I don’t know what it will or won’t be and I really don’t know if I would consider what I’m doing rap, to tell you the truth.”
