Kanye West called BBC Radio 1Xtra exclusively from his video set in Prague on Friday night (Friday 2100 GMT). He spoke to Rodney P & Skitz about why he’s named the track ‘Diamonds From Sierra Leone’, why the label didn’t want to go with his title and he let loose details on the controversial content of the video (he promises it will put a different spin on “throw your diamonds in the air”). He also spoke extensively about the ‘Late Registration’ album and what’s he’s planning to do next. Also why he missed out on meeting Shirley Bassey (he dissed her son in a club) – 1Xtra offered to hook him up with Shirley when he visits the UK. And his plans to buy a house in London.
