KRS-One Explains Hip-Hop Should Be Responsible Post 9-11

Scott Mervis of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette spoke with about his thoughts on hip-hop and how it is depicted after the events of September 11. KRS-One said, “We don’t realize how important it is to depict ourselves in a responsible manner. MTV broadcasts all over the world, and what do they see? Black men and women … wait a second, let me rewind … Americans, white men, white women, black men, black women, everyone getting into the act of being a pimp or a ho. You show that on television to the world, what do they say? ‘America is a joke.”
