The New York Post spoke with Eddie ‘E-Nice’ Eder who runs the ‘Cop Shot MC Battle’ out of his record store. He credits Eminem as one of the dwindling number of rappers who has received massive commercial success but also paid his dues. “Em has been on the underground circuit,” Eder said. “To real hard-core hip-hop fans, he isn’t someone who came out of the blue.” Michael Peterson, creator of the ‘Lyricists’ Lab’ MC battle at Brooklyn’s Cafe Iimani added, “No one in hip-hop can say that Eminem is not a great lyricist. That’s why he is respected in this game. It’s not about his color.”
