Grammy nominated artist M.I.A. uses her fame to shed light on a growing international conflict between Sri Lanka and the Tamil separatists. CNN’s Kareen Wynter spoke with the artist about her activism. “Tamils, who are a bunch of people in Sri Lanka are getting wiped out,” she explained. “I happen to be one of those people that made it out. It happened to me. My school got bombed. People in my village have been killed, and now I’m here, as a pop star. I think it’s really important for me to have music to express all that stuff.” Video of the interview at Turner.com has since been removed.
