MSG Rejects AIDS Charity Hip Hop Performance
Word has it that Madison Square Garden has denied LIFEbeat, the music industry’s AIDS foundation, from holding a concert at the Garden’s 5,600-seat theater for the April 9 benefit. Because of this, the concert’s only other option is a 2,900-seat Beacon theater. Sources tell the New York Daily News that the move is due to security concerns. Jay-Z, R. Kelly and Sean ‘P. Diddy’ Combs are scheduled to be on the bill, with Jamie Foxx hosting and Russell Simmons as chairman. The move has members of LIFEBeat’s board upset.
