Nappy Roots Had Pot Dealers Include Their CD’s With Dope

Skinny from tells Eric Snider of the Weekly Planet that the group initiated some unique marketing wrinkles when they were first starting out. “We sold CDs wholesale to (pot) dealers around town,” Skinny says. Buy a dime, get a disc for free. “You’d get a sack and good CD.” Now that their ‘Watermelon, Chicken & Gritz’ album was finally released on Atlantic earlier this year, the group plans to continue it’s busy tour schedule, and to stay humble. “With how the economy is and all the (CD) bootleggin’,” Skinny muses, “for a million people to believe in some Kentucky country boys enough to buy their music — that sh**’s amazing.”
