Nelly Straddles Rapping & Singing With Unparalleled Ease
Franklin Soults of the Boston Phoenix looked at Nelly and his latest effort ‘Nellyville’. Soults says, “As a rapper, Nelly almost never surprises, and as a singer he’s fairly pedestrian, but he straddles the two realms with an ease that’s unparalleled – and the simple hooks on Nellyville click on almost every track.” As to the chart battle that currently has him battling Eminem in chart dominance, Soults added, “St. Louis is to Nelly what white skin is to Eminem — a factor he had to overcome before he could use it to his advantage.” The full review at bostonphoenix.com has since been removed.
