‘Platinum’ Rapped As Being Too Violent

Najee Ali, the national director of Project Islamic Hope, yesterday launched a boycott against UPN’s new rap music drama ‘Platinum’ saying the producers and writers “have created a show based on focusing on the worst elements of hip hop.” Ali added, “The only thing they have kept real is the glorification of violence and brutality that hip hop needs to move away from.” Ratings for the show are impressive though, earning the network’s best Tuesday night ratings since last December, with 2.27 million people tuning in. On Monday, 3.64 million tuned into the show.
