Queen Latifah On Why Three 6 Mafia Won Oscar Gold

Bill Zwecker of The Chicago Sun-Times asked Queen Latifah why Three 6 Mafia won best song at the Academy Awards on Sunday. “Even though the majority of Academy members are fairly old, I think they go looking for a bit of advice when it comes to the music categories,” she said. “Look, they’ve got kids — and grandkids — and I know for a fact that many of them ask their kids what music they like! Plus the younger members of the Academy like me are hip to hip-hop and rap — so that’s how that happened.”
