The New York Daily News reports that according to insiders, Ralph Lauren has made back-channel offers to Jay-Z to lend his name to a line of men’s wear and home furnishings. Lauren’s rep insists that there’s been no direct contact between the two former Brooklynites. But a source says Lauren is attracted to Jay’s new fondness for tailored suits. Friends of the rapper say he hasn’t decided whether a deal with Lauren would compromise his street cred.
