Rap Music And The Lack Of Originality
Contributed by AdamBernard:
Another short essay here, this one on the supposed growth of rap artists in the past few years. People have been praising people like Kanye West and Andre from Outkast like they’re something special. Sorry, but it’s all been done before. The key about being “different” in rap is to be different in a way that someone’s already done it before. Case in point, Kanye West, who’s sound is something a lot of producers have come with, who’s lyrics are nothing speical, but who put one drop of a little something else into his work to convince everyone he isn’t the same. The masses don’t want something that’s different, they want to SAY they like something that’s different when in actuality it’s almost exactly the same.
