Roots Show An Underwhelming Concertgoing Experience

Craig Smith of the Washington Post was at the 9:30 club Tuesday night for the Roots $2 Bill MTV2 concert in DC. Smith said, “While TV viewers were undoubtedly satisfied with the show, which aired shortly after it was taped, song repetition and deflating downtime made for an often hyper but ultimately underwhelming concertgoing experience.” He added, “Although much of the show felt scripted, the Roots had an ear to the crowd.”
