The Scotsman reports pupils at the Edinburgh school Castlebrae Community High are learning the latest dance-floor moves from America’s top nightclubs to the strains of rap stars Snoop Dogg and Missy Elliott, and Jennifer Lopez. This is believed to be Scotland’s first school to offer hip-hop lessons inspired by US ghetto culture. “We have to move with the times and this is something which could be the only physical activity they get in a week,” said Christine Scott, the school’s community program manager, who says the classes had been a huge success with pupils aged 12 to 17 years old since they were launched last month. “The kids are so enthusiastic that the sessions have gone on half an hour longer than planned and it’s having a positive impact on their behavior.”
