Democrat and Chronicle reports security was beefed up Thursday night as 50 Cent played to a crowd of 2,700 at the State University College at Brockport. Police set up roadblocks and required students to show identification before allowing them to pass. At the door, concert-goers had to pass through metal detectors. No arrests were made, but a few knives were confiscated. University Police Chief Robert Kehoe explained, “We just felt it was appropriate given the popularity of the performer and the actual and potential violence that has occurred at other venues he has been at.” Some concert-goers didn’t buy the explaination though. “If he was a white guy, then security wouldn’t be that tight,” said Laliz Carew, a Brockport freshman from the Bronx.
