Sony Music Urban Showcases Coming To Atlanta

IMMEDIATE RELEASE – ATLANTA, GA- JACHAL STUDIOS, the GA-Area producer of the SONY URBAN/GigAmerica Hip Hop R&B Nationwide Showcase (August 27, 2004 – Atlanta, GA), is currently accepting additional showcase sponsors, artists, models, tastemakers, and entertainers.

JACHAL STUDIOS, the Atlanta-based talent management, events management, photography, and media firm behind JACHAL STUDIOS popular online global events newsletter “JACHAL EVENTS” and GA-area producer of the SONY URBAN/GigAmerica Hip Hop R&B Showcase (August 27, 2004 – Atlanta), is currently accepting additional showcase sponsors, artists, models, tastemakers, and entertainers.

Sony Urban, a division of Sony Music and home to many of the world’s most popular hip-hop and R&B performers including Destiny’s Child, Beyonce, , Kelly Rowland, Ginuwine, Jagged Edge, Lil’ Flip, Xzibit, Nas and Amerie (as well as underground stalwarts such as Bravehearts, Grafh and DJ Kayslay, and Three 6 Mafia) has launched a nationwide search for America’s hottest undiscovered rap, hip-hop and R&B talent. The label announced it will sponsor a 25-city showcase event series in various U.S. markets in 2004 and it is currently looking for rappers, singers, models, tastemakers, and producers.

The showcases will be co-produced by local hip-hop promoters in each market – with JACHAL STUDIOS holding the exclusive rights to Georgia. Invited participants will be screened and selected through a music submission process administered by Sony Urban and showcase production partners GigAmerica and JACHAL STUDIOS.

JACHAL STUDIOS will be holding various auditions in-house in the Cobb Galleria Convention Centre for a chance to perform in the JACHAL MONTHLY SHOWCASES leading to the SONY URBAN ATLANTA SHOWCASE. These artist will be judged on performance and submitted to SONY URBAN and GigAmerica to represent GEORGIA in the ATLANTA SHOWCASE. The monthly showcases will also include the ULTIMATE FREESTYLE CHAMPIONSHIP (UFC) hosted by Urban Scene Radio -internet and satelite radio.

This event gives aspiring talent the chance to display their talent in front of a live audience and to get signed by a major label.

Aspiring artists are encouraged to visit jachalstudio.com for submission guidelines and other details. The submission period will vary according to the Showcase schedule. Additional nationwide showcase dates and locations will be announced on the Sony and GigAmerica Web sites later this month. The entire Showcase Series is expected to run for 12 months providing a terrific array of ongoing sponsorship opportunities.

Up to 50 acts per night will be heard by Sony A&R reps, which will fly from New York City to attend each of the showcases. In addition to Los Angeles, other announced cities that will host Sony Urban showcases include Atlanta, Boston, Virginia Beach, Charlotte, Birmingham, Montgomery, Jackson, Louisville, New Orleans, Orlando, Miami, Houston, Dallas, Memphis, San Antonio, Chicago, St. Louis, Kansas City, Columbus, Detroit, Denver, and San Francisco. Atlanta sponsorship opportunities are available via JACHAL STUDIOS (see below) and all sponsorship opportunities include a concentrated promotional/PR initiative before, during, and after the event.
