Styles spoke with Blender magazine days before beginning his eight month prison sentence for assault on November 20, 2002 in New York’s Weschester County. “I’m gonna stay focused,” he said of the prison term. “so that time goes by fast.” He says while he’s locked up, he plans on writing a book, a movie script, and some rhymes. “Putting my innermost thoughts on paper is what I do best,” he says. “When I come home I’m gonna be a lot sharper than when I go in. It’s hard to leave home for something like this. I’m explaining things to my youngest child, my son. In the long run, he’ll know what it’s like for his son to be without his father.”
