Cam’ron is hitting out at Jay-Z in a brazen 8-minute dis of Hov on ‘You Got It’. “You stole Roc-A-Fella from Dame,” gripes Cam’ron, referring to Jay’s former business partner Damon Dash. “You stole Kanye [West] from Dame. … You stole Rocawear from Dame.” Jay-Z’s pal responded to The New York Daily News: “This is a one-sided feud. Cam’ron may hope there’ll be retaliation. But he’s a gnat. Jay doesn’t have any issues with him.” A Def Jam rep would say only: “Obviously, Cam’ron must have an album coming out soon.”
In an interview with The Mirror, Mariah Carey recounted a night out with Cam’ron. “We’re always hanging out but we really are just friends,” she insisted. “Anyway, he turned up at my apartment one night in his blue Lamborghini. My security guys were really worried about me going with him, so they were just figuring out a way to follow us when Cam took off at 150 miles per hour down the street. They must have been freaking but we just took off, went out and had fun. I was like, ‘You can’t keep up with a Lamborghini! Goodbye!’ I know they’re only looking after my best interests, but the truth is I’m a free spirit.”
The Washington Post reports that D.C. police are investigating a range of possible motives behind the shooting of Cam’ron, saying they are not convinced that he was the victim of an attempted carjacking. Investigators say the rapper could have been shot in an attempted execution, targeted in retaliation for a perceived slight or fired upon in an incidence of road rage. Read more.
MTV News reports that Cam’ron is recuperating after being shot early Sunday morning in what appears to be a failed carjacking attempt, according to the rapper’s representatives. A spokesperson and a source within the the MC’s Diplomats camp have confirmed Cam’ron was shot around 2:10 a.m. Sunday morning (October 23) in Washington, D.C. However, police have refused to release any details or even confirm the shooting as of press time. Read more.
Cam’ron tells The New York Daily News he wasn’t worried about the violent message he might be sending to urban youth in his new “gangsta musical” called ‘Killa Season’. “Censorship has been up tremendously,” he said. “I think this DVD will show people what they want. We haven’t been able to show a gun on TV or a bottle of Hennessy liquor on TV in seven years, and people want to see those things. I don’t care about criticism as long as the record’s making money.”
