Common said originally his daughter wanted to be a dancer, but within the last year she’s been talking about becoming a politician, which he credits to Obama’s rise. Angie also grilled him on Serena Williams, who he reportedly has been dating of late. “We’re friends,” he said, ducking the question. “We hang out. Common dropped by MTV’s ‘Total Request Live’ on Wednesday (November 5) to celebrate the election of Barack Obama as the 44th U.S. President. The Chicago hip hop artist was in Chicago to witness Obama’s speech following the news. “It was a spiritual event for all of us,” he told Tim Kash. “I think Barack Obama summed it up with his humility, and letting us know we all must contribute towards this change. Common spoke with the New York Daily News about a traffic stop that became a job interview. “Once I was in Beverly Hills and did a U-turn, so this officer gave me a ticket,” the Chicago rapper said at Tuesday’s Audi A4 launch party. “Then he realized who I was. He came back and said, ‘So if you ever need security …’ and I was like ‘Dude, you understand this is the worst way to try to get a job, right?'”
