MTV News reports that D12 had a surprise visitor at their Detroit album-release concert on Friday night — 50 Cent. The mega-star joined Eminem and company about halfway through their concert and performed bits of his hit singles.
In their smash video for ‘My Band’, the members of Eminem’s side group, D12, satirize their plight as lesser known rappers toiling behind an ego-mad superstar. But the reality isn’t always so funny. “If we go out and Eminem’s not with us, people can get mad,” group member Kuniva tells Jim Farber of the New York Daily News. “Some journalists set up interviews with us just to ask about Eminem.”
Shannon McCarthy of Get Real Detroit spoke with the guys from D12 about their new album ‘D12 World’ and asked how they balance having fun and being taken seriously. “We really have both sides to us like anyone else,” Eminem said. “We could go anywhere with the subject matter. Sometimes we goof around and when it’s called for we get serious or angry. I think we have a good balance of both on this album.”
According to Ecko.com, Proof of D12 is readying to release his anticipated solo LP. The album entitled ‘I Miss Hip-Hop Shop’ pays homage to the famed Detroit spot where local emcees battled for street credibility. Producers on the album include DJ Premier, Reef, Denaun Porter (of D12), and Jay Dilla. ‘I Miss Hip-Hop Shop’ drops May 18th.

According to the Daily Star, all of London’s swankiest hotels are refusing to admit Eminem and D12 on their UK visit, because they’re not prepared to meet Em’s list of “requirements”. The requirements include having a whole floor for the band’s 30-strong entourage, including their own lift, blacked-out windows and a boom box in every room. One tour insider told the tab: “Everyone is so worried but it is only fair that a star the size of Eminem will demand to have a bit of space to himself so he can chill out with his mates.”
