MTV News caught up with Da Brat and Jermaine Dupri to talk about Da Brat signing up to appear on the fourth season of the popular VH1 program ‘The Surreal Life’. “With ‘The Surreal Life,’ it was a real hard decision for her to do that,” Dupri offered of his friend’s participation. “As her superior, I felt she shouldn’t do it. But at the same time, she talked to me like, ‘If I went on there, [other current rappers] would want to do it. They would think it’s something new to do.’ She felt that as long as her life was current, it empowered her.” Da Brat added, “I think it’s gonna be a good thing. It’s gonna be funny fo’ sho. I can’t really wonder what people think, as long as I do my thing. I enjoyed it. I think people are going to love it.” Read more.

HipOnline.com recently chatted with Da Brat and asked the lady rapper what motivates her. “The passion and if I hear something really hot on the radio I’ll be like ‘I have to write this song’,” Da Brat explained. “I could be in the park walking my dog and come up with something so I’ll put it in my Dictaphone and if it’s great I don’t want to forget it. I’m inspired by everything.”
Da Brat spoke with ejams.com about her new album ‘Limelite, Luv & Niteclubz’, which she declares, “It’s finna be crazy. Crazier than ‘Funkdafied’, and not because this is my most recent piece. It’s just that the maturity is there.” The female rapper added, “Mother fu**ers take you through the ringer and you learn so much. And I just feel like I’m there now and I’m so ready to just put all this sh** out. These past three years since [her last CD] ‘Unrestricted’, I been like mad busy the whole time. I ain’t just been laying around, not doing nothing. Worrying, just waiting to come out. I’ve been just doing my thing. I’ve been writing for other people. I’ve been tightening up my craft, my business, like my production company ‘Thowin’ Tantrums Entertainment.’ I’ve been just getting sh** right on every level. Plus I just wanted to wait in the wings to see what everybody was doing. To see what I was gonna do to smash ’em. And that is ‘Limelite, Luv & Niteclubz’.” Audio at ejams.com has since been removed.
SOHH.com recently caught up with Da Brat and asked the singer if her new album ‘Limelite, Luv & Niteclubz’ is a title that accurately describes her life. “Yeah, that describes my life,” she said. “The nightclub is where we meet to do our thing, have a few drinks and just chill out. You know, release some stress.”
