While the rest of Dip Set was getting famous Freekey was stuck doing a nearly three year bid. Released this past November, Freekey is back on his grind and this week we sat down with him to talk about what’s been going on since his release, his deal with Asylum Records, and the steps The Diplomats take to make sure they continue to be a successful team. AllHipHop.com caught up with Freekey Zeekey who is still recovering from being shot in the Chelsea area of Manhattan back in April, which saw his friend Eric ‘E’ Mangrum get murdered. “I been through a real recovery. Whoever see me right now they just see me smiling, running, laughing, joking running around like ain’t nothing happen,” he said. “But honestly something serious did happen. It’s on that wall right there but I’m all right. It’s like God blessed me. They found like over 40 shells on that floor, so that goes to show you right there what they was trying to do.” And this wasn’t even the first time he’d been shot.
AllHipHop.com reports that police have captured the man suspected of shooting Freaky Zeeky and murdering his friend, Eric Mangrum. Eric Mingo, 32, was staked out a Tremont Avenue Bronx apartment building Thursday morning, after receiving a tip that he was there. He’s the third man arrested in connection to the shooting.
Launch.com reports New York City police arrested a second suspect, Herndon Williams, 32, of Brooklyn, New York on Saturday (May 17), and charged him with murder and attempted robbery for the shooting of rapper Freekey Zekey (a.k.a. Ezekiel Jiles) of Cam’ron’s protege group the Diplomats, and the murder of his bodyguard, Eric Mangrum, on April 25 during an attempted robbery.
Launch.com reports Chauncey Dillon of Brooklyn, New York has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder in connection with the shoot-out last Friday (April 25) which left 28-year-old Eric Mangrum, dead, and rapper Freakey Zekey of the Diplomats, wounded. Twenty nine-year-old Dillon was arrested early Wednesday (April 30) but according to police spokesman Sgt. Kevin Hayes, the investigation is still ongoing.
The New York Post reports Diplomat crew member Freaky Zeeky will be charged with will be charged with criminal possession of a weapon. The rapper is in stable condition after a shooting in midtown Manhattan Friday morning (April 25). Zeeky was shot in the chest and abdomen and an associate, Eric Mangrum, 28, was shot in the chest and shoulder.
WABC reports that Diplomats member and President Freeky Zeeky has been shot and listed in stable condition, while his passenger only known as ‘E’ was killed. The rapper was allegedly involved in a shootout after a fender-bender outside Centrofly on Friday morning. The vehicle Freeky was in was side-swiped and within minutes, the traffic accident escalated into a deadly shootout. Freeky wasn’t cooperating with the police when questioned at St. Vincent’s Hospital.
