Gang Starr In Time Warp With New CD

Malcolm X Abram of the Beacon Journal reviewed Gang Starr’s latest effort ‘The Ownerz’. He writes, “Their desire to stay with the tried and true makes all their releases sound as if they are trapped in a time warp. Consequently, listeners know exactly what they are going to get, and it comes down to how the songs compare to the group’s past work.”

Gang Starr’s Pure Hip-Hop Rocks

Marc Matsui of The Seattle Times reviewed the Common, Gang Starr and Talib Kweli show Wednesday night at the Showbox, indicating that the legendary duo of Guru and DJ Premier upstaged headliner and birthday boy Common. Matsui writes, “Throughout the night Guru, the self-proclaimed ‘King of Monotone,’ sounded crisp, clear and commanding as ever with his lyrics. Gang Starr’s set ended with ‘Full Clip,’ a tribute to the deceased rapper Big L.”
