Ice Cube Releasing New Album ‘I Am The West’ This Summer
Ice Cube checked in with fans on his official web site on Wednesday (February 24) with news about his upcoming ninth studio album. The 40-year-old rapper/actor writes:
‘I Am The West’ is the name of my new record. After completing about 65 percent of my music, this is the new perfect title. This sh** is cocky, no apologies, West Coast gangsta sh**. I can’t help it. That’s what I do… June seems too tight for a release, but July is very doable. We’ll see how things go. Now that I have my title, I can work on the concept of my photoshoot and artwork. I want to provide.

Ice Cube’s got a new solo album ‘Raw Footage’ and family movie ‘The Longshots’. CNN’s Denise Quan spoke with the N.W.A. rapper on the set of his new music video for ‘Do Ya Thang’, who said the group’s music “made it okay for artists to really be themselves.” Cube also talked about the chance he’ll play Mr. T’s infamous role in the big screen adaptation of the ’80s TV series ‘The A-Team’. “If it can all come together, I would love to play B.A. Barachus,” Cube said.

Cube said they selected the track as the first single because the others on the ‘Raw Footage’ album were too raw. “This was one we thought we could get the most exposure on, without people trippin’ on it,” the former NWA rapper explained. “This is a little more friendly for people that play rap music right now.” Cube also talked about Senator Barack Obama’s run to become president.
