Jam talked to Canada’s Jelleestone who discussed the stereotypes of rappers and how the industry demands those stereotypes saying, “It’s not really up to us, because the record companies over the years choose what they want to put money behind. Hip-hop has become a billion-dollar industry. What we can do is empower ourselves through the stereotypes, give people the flip side of the coin. I wasn’t born with a platinum chain around my neck. I had to earn what I have now.”
A rapper new to the scene signed under Warner Bros. will be chatting on Yahoo! on Tuesday 6pET/3pPT ahead of his forthcoming “Jelleestone 13” album.
