Rex Features and WireImage.com all have photos from Sunday night’s Teen Choice Awards. Amongst the stars in attendance were Ja Rule, Lil’ Romeo, Master P, Eve, Nelly. The show airs on Monday, August 19th at 8 PM EST on Fox.
Master P and his son Lil’ Romeo are performing as we speak before the Seattle Mariners game against the Oakland A’s.
Master P search interest was pretty strong for a rap veteran. The rapper had 58,697 searches for the month of April on pay-per search engine Overture.com, putting him way ahead of KRS-One at 4,175 and Run DMC’s 7,015 searches. Still, the interest wasn’t enough to make him the most popular member of even his own family, as son Lil’ Romeo had 84,525 searches for the same period. The rapper’s most popular tune is ‘Real Love’, with another ‘Game Face’ track close behind – ‘Ooohhhwee’.
Associated Press reports Antwan Kevin Baker, accused of stalking rapper Master P for more than three years will stand trial and is being ordered held on $200,000 bail.
Flo Anthony updated her column last night with news on Master P and Suge Knight, who apparently missed his own birthday party at Mars 2112 in New York City. The bash, held by Felon magazine, was scoped out by Suge’s people but they advised against him making an appearance because “NYPD found out Suge was going to be there, they closed down three streets. Since he’s still on probation, his people thought there was too much police activity going on. He has to be careful.” FloAnthony.com has since been shut down.
Lil’ Romeo and pop Master P attended the 3rd Annual T.J. Martell B-Ball Classic benefit game at Basketball City in New York City, which benefits the TJ Martell Foundation for Leukemia, Cancer and AIDS Research.
Master P and Lil’ Romeo called in to talk with KISS 106.1 in Seattle recently and chatted with DJ’s Jackie & Bender. Lil’ Romeo talked about where he learned his values, staying out of trouble, how the father and son communicate, how other parents have to live off of their celebrity kids – which isn’t a problem for Master P, and more. The six minute clip at jackieandbender.com has since been removed.
Looks like aggressively chasing after Master P for the past three years has finally caught up to Antwan Baker, who Launch.com reports was arrested yesterday and charged with trespassing and making criminal threats after he approached Master P in the lobby of the music mogul’s attorney’s office in Los Angeles. This was the final straw in a series of incidents that began in Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport in 1999, when he approached Master P about a recording contract and about financing opportunities for a movie through No Limit Films.
Bill White of the Seattle Post-Intelligencer was in attendance at Wednesday’s KUBE-FM’s birthday party at KeyArena and like the Seattle Times review, White said the show “offered few highlights in a four-hour program that suffered from too much dead air.” Worst on the bill was Master P, whom White said “appeared to be lip-synching much of the time. There are few things as dull as a mediocre rapper, and P’s lackluster efforts to transform his studio recordings into a live, in-the-moment happening, were a waste of time.” Read more.
Pam Sitt of the Seattle Times was on hand at Wednesday night’s KUBE’s 21st Birthday Concert which featured performances by Ja Rule, Ashanti, Naughty By Nature, Master P, Tweet and 112. Sitt writes, “In grand KUBE tradition, the lineup was a mix of one-hit wonders, old-school rappers and, of course, the flavor of the month.”
