Method Man tells Anastasia Pantsios
of the Cleveland Plain Dealer that a new album from the Wu-Tang Clan is on indefinite hold, and he pulls no punches explaining why. “If you’re thinking everything you put out is going to taste like sugar, you’re wrong, brother,” he says. “You can’t just sit around in between albums and not write. You can’t just sit around between albums and not produce. ‘Cause when you go back inside the studio, you’re stale. And that’s basically what was going on. Brothers were sitting there with nothing written. They were just coming in and singing 16 bars, no hook… it’s like, I did my part.’ No, you didn’t. You didn’t make a song. All you did was spit a rhyme. Come on, man, you gotta step your game up. Our first album sounded like basement hip-hop so it was easy for us to make a bigger production on every album after that. We have the resources now. What was the problem? The problem was the artists not being artists.”
Launch.com reports Method Man, Redman with Stephen and Damian Marley, Capone-N-Noreaga with Lexxus, Cam’ron with Buju Banton, and Scarface and Nokio of Dru Hill with T.O.K. are some of the rap-reggae collaborations featured on the ‘Red Star Sounds Vol. 3: Def Jamaica’ which will be released in August.
This summer, Method Man will play the role of Cheese on ‘The Wire’ on HBO. The rapper described his character to MTV saying, “The name speaks for itself, he’s about his cheese. He’s a street aficionado. He’s underneath the man. It’s a dope character, he’s about his paper. I’m not in any scenes with the original cast members right now.” Look for Meth on Fox’s ‘Boston Public’ as well, where he’ll play a record producer attempting to sign ‘American Idol’ star Tamyra Gray’s character Aisha.

Kirk Miller of RollingStone.com spoke with Method Man about his new album ‘Tical 0: The Prequel’, which is scheduled for a March release. He says unlike his last ‘dark’ record, this one will be all about fun. “The majority of our audience can’t afford Versace and all the name brands and these big expensive cars,” he says. “A lot of them just like to party, that’s the common denominator among every class. We all just like to party so that’s what the album is based on.”

Meth also indicated an interest in working with Mary J. Blige. Meth was wearing some obscene label on his jacket that LaLa had to cover up when he tried to show it to the cameras.
