MTV News caught up with Missy Elliott to talk about her upcoming album ‘Under Construction’ as well as her work putting together a new Aaliyah album. “You gonna hear a new Aaliyah album,” she said. “Right now we’re working on getting the artists together. She has a lot of songs she didn’t put on the [Aaliyah] album, so hopefully we’re going to get the artists to come in and sing the other verse on a song and keep one of her verses so it’ll be like a collaboration thing. I donít have an exact time frame on it because itís a lot of artists we’re trying to get for it, but it’ll be soon.” Read more.
The Scotsman reports pupils at the Edinburgh school Castlebrae Community High are learning the latest dance-floor moves from America’s top nightclubs to the strains of rap stars Snoop Dogg and Missy Elliott, and Jennifer Lopez. This is believed to be Scotland’s first school to offer hip-hop lessons inspired by US ghetto culture. “We have to move with the times and this is something which could be the only physical activity they get in a week,” said Christine Scott, the school’s community program manager, who says the classes had been a huge success with pupils aged 12 to 17 years old since they were launched last month. “The kids are so enthusiastic that the sessions have gone on half an hour longer than planned and it’s having a positive impact on their behavior.”

I’m wondering whatever happened to Big Daddy Kane, EMPD, Rakim. Now it’s too tense.”
Dotmusic.com reports that Missy ‘Misdemeanor’ Elliott has lost four stone (56 pounds), dramatically changing her once familiar figure. The hip-hop star debuts her svelte new appearance on the cover of her forthcoming single, ‘Work It’. Elliott has ignored media pressure to lose weight in the past, claiming that any efforts to trim down would be solely for heath reasons. She is said to suffer from both high blood pressure and migraines. As previously reported, Missy’s new album, ‘Under Construction’, is due for release in November and features contributions from Tweet, Jay-Z, Ludacris, Method Man and Beyonce Knowles amongst others.
Hits Daily Double caught up with Elektra Entertainment Chairman/CEO Sylvia Rhone who is predicting big things for Missy Elliott on her fourth album, ‘Under Construction’, which comes out November 12. “Missy has always infused hip-hop with a fresh, fun, head-banging, sexy dance-floor sound,” said Rhone. “This time, she’s imbued it with an old-school flavor, while at the same time creating an entirely new sound. The album will take her to a new level of celebrity, catapulting Missy from superstar to icon.”

Britney Spears, Nelly, Missy Elliott and other pop stars will be featured in coming weeks in TV spots funded by the world’s biggest record labels to educate people about illegal downloading of music, which the music industry blames for a protracted sales slump. “We want to hit fans with the message that downloading music illegally is, as Britney Spears explains in one of the spots, ‘the same thing as going into a CD store and stealing the CD,”‘ said Hilary Rosen, chief executive officer of Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), a trade group for the music industry.
