Rakim Arrested On Paternity Warrant
Rakim, of legendary hip-hop duo Eric B and Rakim, was arrested at 11 p.m. on Tuesday (April 27), shortly before he was supposed to hit the stage for a show at New York’s Roseland Ballroom. According to the Associated Press, police from Suffolk County arrested the rapper on a warrant issued in 2001 due to unpaid child support. Read more.

MTV News reports Rakim was injured in a car accident Wednesday afternoon in Connecticut while en route to New York City, an attorney for the legendary MC said. Rakim did not appear to be hurt seriously and is expected to be out and about soon. Read more.
Rakim And Dr. Dre Part Ways
Legendary rapper Rakim has left Dr. Dre’s Aftermath Records, according to the label’s website. Rakim joined the label three years ago but never released his long awaited album, ‘Oh My God’. Launch.com reports Rakim’s manager Zach Katz made the following statement: “He’s already shopping a new deal. He’s left Aftermath. They mutually decided to go their separate ways. There are reasons, but I really can’t get into them, just basically creative differences. And he’s already talking to other people. So that’s really what it is.”
