Billboard.com recently caught up with Timbaland and asked the hip hop producer about quotes where he claimed he wanted to walk away from hip-hop. “It’s not just hip-hop. I want to walk away from music, period,” Tim revealed. “To me, the music business is too saturated, and there’s too much politics with the record companies and radio. I’m not walking away right away. I’ll probably do another Missy Elliott album. But there’s too much going on with the [illegal] downloading and other problems in the music industry. And I’ve gotten bored with hip-hop. I’m about to totally change my whole image in 2004. It’s going to shock people.”
Platinum-selling rap duo Timbaland & Magoo have come together again to release their third album titled Under Construction II on Universal/Blackground Records. The album will have 19 tracks with guest appearances including Wyclef Jean, Pharrell Williams, and Bubba Sparxxx among others. It is due in stores on November 18th. Launch.com reports Timbaland & Magoo recently released the second single, ‘Indian Flute’ featuring Sebastian and Raje Shwari, from the upcoming third album, ‘Under Construction 2’. It will be released on December 9th. The first single from the set was ‘Cop That Disk’ featuring Missy Elliott.
Rap acts on television this week include Queen Latifah, who appears on The View on Thursday, Jay-Z and Young Gunz, who appear on BET’s 106 and Park on Thursday; and Timbaland and Magoo, who appear on 106 and Park on Friday. Also, look out for Method Man and Nate Dogg on The New Tom Green Show on MTV this week.
BET.com reports Heather Hunter is making the leap from porn to rap. She says, “Bubba Sparxxx has an album coming out. I’m on his album with him and Timbaland. I’m rhyming and I got an album coming out. I’m producing it and working on it with DJ Premier of Gangstarr, Scott Storch, and Freedom Lyle.”
The New York Post reports Whitney Houston, Missy Elliott, Brandy and *NSYNC member Joey Fatone were spotted celebrating producer Timbaland’s birthday at the Shore Club in Miami.
Rush & Molloy of the New York Daily News reports Missy Elliott and Timbaland were joined by actors Leonardo DiCaprio and Tobey Maguire at Miami’s Crobar over the Fourth of July weekend in the hot spot’s roped-off VIP section. Also there were Drena De Niro and supermodel Carmen Kass.
The New York Post reports Timbaland was spotted catching a 6 a.m. flight back to Los Angeles after partying at his new Chelsea nightclub Suede with partner Eytan Sugarman, Jason Patric, Jay-Z, Kid Capri and Marcus Schenkenberg.
