Bun B Talks With Houston’s 97.9 FM After Pimp C’s Death

The Madd Hatta Morning Show on 97.9 The Box in Houston interviewed Bun B after the death of his UGK partner Pimp C. Bun said he was at home when he got the call about Pimp’s death, that they’re now in the process of going through his affairs and bringing him back to Houston for burial. “The hard truth of the matter is that the brother is gone,” Bun said regarding the speculation. “I said everything I need to say about Pimp. I have no regrets about that… I always told my boy I loved him, and he always told me he loved me. As men, we’re never ashamed to say that, we’re never ashamed to show that. And I’m very proud ”

Pimp C Dead At 33, LA Homicide Detectives Investigating

The Houston Chronicle reports Pimp C, whose real name was Chad Butler, was discovered in bed Tuesday by security personnel at the Mondrian hotel in West Hollywood, California. Responding to a 911 call, paramedics pronounced the UGK rapper dead at the hotel. The cause of death remained undetermined Tuesday, said the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office. Chief investigator Craig Harvey said the body would be examined today, but a ruling would likely be deferred until more tests are performed. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said in a statement that homicide detectives were “continuing their investigation.”

Bun B tells AOL Music he and Pimp C have begun work on on a long-awaited UGK disc. “The album will probably be out in November. We’re just getting ready to start mixing it and picking the first single,” Bun said. “I think we know what we’re gonna drop, but we just wanna make sure we come back right for the people.”

Pimp C Released From Prison

The Associated Press reports Pimp C of the duo Underground Kingz, or UGK, was released on parole Friday after serving about half of an eight-year sentence. Pimp C (real name: Chad Butler) was sentenced when he fell behind on community service required after pleading no contest to aggravated assault. He was charged after brandishing a gun during an argument with a woman at a mall.

Raiders DB Is A Big UGK Fan

Oakland Raiders defensive back Charles Woodson tells Vibe magazine that his favorite artist is UGK. “Those boys definitely have flow,” Woodson said. “I listen to them almost every day. Their songs have messages.”
