Will.I.Am Previews Solo Album

will.i.am’s upcoming, as-yet-untitled solo album won’t sound as radio friendly as the work he’s done with the Black Eyed Peas. “I’m a battle MC, don’t forget it. Yeah, we on the radio, but I eat a lot of ni**as up,” Will tells MTV News. “My roots are as a backpack parking-lot rapper. … I got signed by Eazy-E in 1991 just by freestyling, so it’s gonna have a lot of that, but at the same time, I love the art form of writing songs. A lot of MCs don’t practice that art form of songwriting structure, cadences, melody and whatnot, so I honor that art form and it’s gonna be on my solo project as well.” Read more.

Will.i.am’s Solution To 50 Cent And Ja Rule Beef

Black Eyed Peas member will.i.am has a solution for settlling the long standing beef between Ja Rule and 50 Cent. He tells Chart magazine, “Put it on MTV or something. Make a show on beef. Cause as soon as they start leaving it up to themselves, somebody’s gonna get hurt. Put it on national TV so people could see who really got skills and who doesn’t. 50 Cent vs. Ja Rule, live. Forty seconds each, spit. Give each of ’em 20 words: ‘Use these 20 words in a freestyle’. Seriously, we’re rappers. We use words. It’s literature; we’re poets. And if somebody can’t go off the head and be creative, then what the fu** are they doing?”
