Without Missing A Beat, Tribeca Fest Celebrates Hip Hop

Among the Tribeca Film Festival Festival’s more than 200 offerings are several that explore and celebrate hip-hop culture. “With Madonna rapping in her new music and suburban kids embracing the genre, hip hop is obviously a huge part of the mainstream,” David Kwok, a festival programmer tells the New York Daily News. “[The festival’s] hip-hop artists present original and quality stories that people might not be able to see at any other times.” Amongst the films is Damon Dash’s ‘Death of a Dynasty’. Dash says, “At first my financier was like, ‘I want a gangster, shoot ’em up, bang-bang movie’. Instead, he got a spoof of that culture.”
