Haitian-born hip-hop star Wyclef Jean took a minute during the Fusha fashion show to talk to The New York Daily News about the bloody crisis in his homeland, where rebels are seeking to overthrow the country’s first freely elected president, Jean-Bertrand Aristide. “The killing is brutal,” Wyclef said. “I know a lot of people that passed away.” Asked if it was time for Aristide to go, Jean said he’s still forming his opinion. He’s only certain that “we need as much help as we can get from the UN.”
