Wynton Marsalis Calls Rap Music ‘Minstrel Show’

The Associated Press reports jazz star and trumpet player Wynton Marsalis told students at suburban Westerville South High School that rap music was a modern-day “minstrel show.” Those not familiar with the term should know it means: “A comic variety show presenting jokes, songs, dances, and skits, usually by white actors in blackface.” The full story at cnn.com has since been removed.
