Chuck D Is Thinking Beyond Country To Country
Cyclone of Australia’s Beat Magazine spoke with Public Enemy’s Chuck D, who addressed why he and the group left Def Jam in 1999 to release ‘There’s A Poison Goin’ On’ independently. “I looked at the world as one piece, whereas the companies always look at the world from country to country,” he explained. “If I’m releasing a product, I know it’s gonna go all around the world, whereas if Redman released a product they’ll be worrying about getting the ‘play in New York, Philadelphia and Atlanta first and, me, I’m thinking way beyond that.”
