Kid Sister spoke with Spinner about straddling the fence between rap and pop and her reluctance to record pop music, most notably a pop track on her 2009 record ‘Ultraviolet’ which her record label pushed her to make. “It was supposed to be my pop smash and I was like, ‘I told you guys, I don’t want to do this. I’m not Britney Spears – it’s just not me,'” the 31-year-old explained.
But don’t lump her in with other female rappers, suggesting the few involved are either party girls or lesbians. “There’s two roads in life [as a female rapper]: drinking or having sex with women,” she explained. “I’m neither – I’m a tomboy who happens to really like nails. I’m like a grandma.”
