Bill White of the Seattle Post-Intelligencer was also on hand for the Nelly concert on Tuesday night (August 12) at Paramount Theatre. White says, “The show wasn’t so much an intimate evening with Nelly as a promotion for his new record label, Derrty Entertainment, and its maiden release, ‘Murphy’s Law,’ by Murphy Lee, the youngest member of St. Lunatics, the crew Nelly has been with since 1996. Nelly has never been one to demand the spotlight for himself. Even last year, when he was at his hottest, he shared the KeyArena stage generously with the St. Lunatics. That concert was a prop-laden, costume-changing, hip-hop carnival that pulled out all the stops.” Read more.
Hip Online spoke with St. Lunatics rapper Ali about his latest efforts on the solo tip. Ali described how it was being different as the front man saying, “It’s a little different, but I was the front man back in ’98, but then we decided to put Nelly out front. We all family so it doesn’t make any difference, we are just happy to be successful.”
Searches for the St. Lunatics weren’t very impressive for the month of February on pay-per search engine overture.com. Similar to the Eminem-D12 disparity, Nelly is much more popular than his St. Lunatic side group. The various wordings of the band’s name got around 20,000 searches, while Nelly got a huge 234,096 searches in the same period.
